Corte Madera Soccer Rules and Regulations

 

1. Number of Players:

 

U-7 Maximum number of players on the field at any one time is six (6), one of whom shall be a goalkeeper. Each child should play goalkeeper at least once during the season.

 

U-8 Maximum number of players on the field at any one time is six (6), one of whom shall be a goalkeeper. Each child should play goalkeeper at least once during the season.

 

U-10 Maximum number of players on the field at any one time is nine (9), one of whom shall be a goalkeeper. Each player should play goalkeeper at least once during the season. If both coaches agree, then both can play ten (10) players. 

 

U-12 Maximum number of players on the field at any one time is eleven (11), one of whom shall be a goalkeeper. Each player should play goalkeeper at least once during the season. If both coaches agree, then both can play less players. 

 

 

ALL LEAGUES: If one or both teams do not have the maximum nine (9) or 

eight (8) players, then medium-talented players can be moved from one 

team to the other team to maximize the number of players on the field.

Both teams are to try and play with an equal number of players.

 

A. Substitution:  During stoppage of play with referee’s permission.

You can substitute after an injury, on a throw-in by either team or on a corner kick by either team.

 

B. Playing Time:  Each player must participate in a minimum of 50% of the total playing time.

 

2. The Ball:  A size (5) ball will be used for the Under 12 league.  A size four (4) ball will be used for the under 10 league; a size three (3) ball will be used for the under 8 league and Under 7 League.

 

3. Referees:

 

A. All decisions on points of fact connected with the game shall be final.

B. Shall be encouraged to explain an infraction with the offending player.

C. Are encouraged to explain the incorrectness of the first throw-in, a second throw-in is allowed.

D. Coaches are responsible for controlling players and fans during the game. Referees can stop the game if any player or fan becomes abusive in any way.

 

4. Duration of the Game:  Games must start within ten minutes of scheduled time.

 

U-7 / U-8 The game is to be divided into two (2) halves of 20 minutes, with a 5 minute half-time.

 

U-10 The game is to be divided into two (2) halves of 25 minutes, with a 5 minute half-time. 

               

U-12 The game is to be divided into two (2) halves of 25 minutes, with a 5 minute half-time.

 

 

5. Free Kicks:

 

Shall be classified under ONE heading, “Indirect.” A goal may not be scored until the ball has been played and touched by a second player, (not necessarily from the same team) except as follows:

 

If a defender other than the designated goalie grabs or deflects the ball within his/her goal box with the intent to stop a goal (as opposed to being hit in the face, etc.), then a direct kick will be awarded to the other team. The “intent” is solely based upon judgment of the referee. The referee will yell direct kick meaning that the ball does not have to be touched twice to score. Penalty shot to be taken at 6 or 8 yards from the centered on the goal.  Area to be cleared of all players except the kicker and opposing goalie who stands on the line in the goal.

 

Indirect or direct kicks are never to be taken from within an opponent’s Goal Box.

 

No penalty kicks are to be taken during these games, except as previously stated.

 

6. Goal kicks must travel (roughly 6 yards for U-7/U-8, 8 yards for U-10 games, and 10 yards for U-12 games to be in play. It will be the referee’s decision whether to play on or to have goal kick rekicked. The intent is for the kicking team opponents to have a fair chance at the ball.

 

7. All other rules conform to the laws of the game.

 

8. Common Sense:

 

A. Coaches and players are encourages to shake hands with the opponent after each game.

B. No league standings will be kept.

C. The game is for the children, let them learn; but most of all, 

    let them have FUN.

D. Shin guards are required at all times

E.  Coaches are responsible for the behavior of the parents on the sidelines

 

f.  Players and Parents must be on opposite sides of the field – coaches enforce this please!
