Recreation Center
Located by the beautiful and award-winning Town Park on Tamalpais Drive at Eastman, the Recreation Center is the perfect venue for wedding receptions, birthdays, business meetings, social gatherings, banquets, fund-raisers, and performances.
With total capacity of 450 people, the Recreation Center includes a large multi-purpose main hall (64’x 43’6”), lounge and wet bar (62’6”x 14’6”), fireplace, indoor barbecues, stage (20’x 43’4”), meeting rooms, and beautiful garden-setting patio.
Capacity is 300 seated, 450 assembly. Adjoined to the main hall is a huge kitchen (35’6”x 14’6”) with commercial refrigerator, double deep sink, oven, griddle, and stove.
Our furniture collection includes folding chairs, 8 foot by 30 inch rectangular tables and 6 foot round tables provided free of charge if you rent the facility.
The Recreation Center is also equipped with a piano, PA system, and lighting. Renters are entitled to one-day use of the readerboard in front of the building on the day of rental.

Insurance Requirement
All applicants shall provide a one day Special Event Insurance prior to acceptance of applications and shall name the Town of Corte Madera, its officers, agents, and employees as additional insured.
Rental Hours
- Sunday-Thursday: Music must be turned off by 9 p.m. All evening rentals must be out of the building NO LATER THAN 10:00 p.m.
- Friday-Saturday: Music must end by 10:00 p.m., building must be vacated no later than 11:00 p.m.
Setup and Cleanup
Hours of use stated on the permit must include setup and cleanup time
Setup Time: The setup and decorating committee will not be admitted into the building before time stated on reservation contract. Users should allow ample time for setup and decorating committee to complete their tasks.
Cleanup Time: Users should allow ample time to clean up after event.
Cleanup includes: breaking down tables and chairs and placing them to the side of the room, removing garbage from the building, and leaving kitchen area in the same condition as before the event started. If custodian is required to do extra cleaning, the deposit will be retained and user will be charged for extra cleaning.
1. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH POLICIES OF YOUR CONTRACT WILL CAUSE REVOCATION OF THE AGREEMENT, IMMEDIATE CANCELATION OF THE EVENT AND LOSS OF THE ENTIRE DEPOSIT.
2. To be considered a Corte Madera resident, individuals MUST RESIDE WITHIN TOWN LIMITS. For organization or groups. Corte Madera residency is established by having a CORTE MADERA ADDRESS, as well as proof that fifty percent (50%) of their members live within the Corte Madera Town Limits. All facilities must be left in the same condition as before the event started. If additional cleanup is required, all or a portion of the deposit will be retained. User will be charged for all extra costs.

Corte Madera Parks & Recreation Indoor and Outdoor Facilities Use Fees (Effective July 1, 2007 )
The Corte Madera Town Council adopted the following clarifications of residency::
- 1) For the use of facilities and programs located on property owned by the Larkspur School
District, Reed Union School District, and Tamalpais Union High School District (Neil
Cummins Gymnasium, San Clemente School/Park, the Roller Hockey Rink, Tennis Courts at
Granada School, and Town Park’s softball and soccer fields), “residents” shall mean individuals
who reside in, or groups and organizations which have their principal place of business located
within the County of Marin. - 2) For the use of all other facilities and programs located on property owned by the Town of Corte Madera (Town Park other than the areas mentioned in (1) above, Piccolo Pavilion, and Recreation Center) “residents” shall mean individuals who reside in, or groups and organizations which have their principal place of business located within the Town of Corte Madera.
OUTDOOR FIELDS. FACILITIES AND PROGRAMS
The one-day use fees/charges applicable to users of the TOWN’S outdoor fields and facilities shall be: RESIDENTS/ NON-RESIDENTS
A. PICNIC AREAS PER SITE
- Per 4-hour segments $ 80.00/ $100.00
- Cleaning and Damage Deposit $200.00/ $200.00 (may be refunded)
B. PICCOLO PAVILION: a Special Events Permit is also required.

EFFECTIVE JUL 1, 2003: Jump House allowed only on Town Park picnic area A, G or D and San Clemente Park. A silent generator (less than 65 decibels) is required. The number of Jump Houses in Town Park will be limited to two per day and one per day in San Clemente Park. Both you and the Jumb House provider must provide a Certificate of Insurance with the Town of Corte Madera as the additional insured. Please specify that you will have a Jump House at time of reservation.
Corte Madera Parks and Recreation Indoor and Outdoor Facilities General Policy
Effective: July 1, 2004
- 1. Reservations shall be accepted up to one year in advance. All fees, insurance forms and ABC permit (when required) are due at least 21 working days in advance. If less than 3 weeks prior to date of event, full payment by money order, cashier’s check or cash only shall be accepted.
- 2. Hours of use stated on the application must include set-up and clean-up time.
- 3. Application permits are not transferable.
- 4. All applications must comply with State Alcoholic Beverage Control policy if alcoholic beverages are to be sold.
- 5. At the discretion of the Town, security personnel may be required and the cost of the same shall be borne by the applicant.
- 6. Applications for use by youth groups must be signed by an adult sponsor.
- 7. Any organization or group renting facilities shall provide to the town evidence of the following instructions in
force prior to the Town’s acceptance of its application.
- A. Bodily Injury: $250,000 each person; $500,000 each occurrence; $500,000 aggregate products and completed operations. Property Damage: $100,000 each occurrence: $100,000 aggregate. In Lieu of: $600,000 combined single limits for bodily injury and property damage liability.
- B. Liability policy must contain coverage and/or endorsements for premises liability, products liability, liquor law liability, personal injury liability and contractual liability. Additional insured endorsements: All such insurance shall be primary and shall name the Town of Corte Madera, its Officers and Employees as additional insured.
- C. Certificate of Insurance: A certificate of Insurance or appropriate binder of Insurance coverage, evidencing the required insurance coverage with a company acceptable to the Town shall be submitted to the Town prior to the use of Town facilities.
- 8. Town has option to waive Certificate of Insurance under certain circumstances. The applicant and/or
organization hereby agrees as follows:
- Damages or Injuries:
- A. The applicant shall promptly reimburse the Town for the cost of repairing and damage to the Town property occurring in connection with or arising from the permitted activity and caused by the permittee /sponsoring organization, its officers, employees, or agents, or by any person who is on the premises as an invitee thereof, expressed or implied.
- B. The applicant shall defend the Town, its officers, employees and agents, and shall indemnify and hold harmless from any and all claims and liability to any person resulting from any property damage, personal injury, or death in connection with or arising from the permitted activity and caused by the permittee/sponsoring organization, its officers, employees, or agents, or by any persons who is on the premises as an invitee thereof, expressed or implied.
- 9. The applicant whose signature appears on the application should arrive at the starting time designated and should plan to be present until the end of the even. If applicant cannot be present, designate an individual and place that name on the application.
- 10. 50% of the deposit shall be retained if the event is cancelled more than 2 weeks before the event. If canceled less than two weeks before event, the entire deposit and rental payment will be retained.
- 11. Reservation may be revoked at any time at the discretion of the Director of Recreation.
- 12. The applicant and organization are personally responsible for all damages to the facilities.
- 13. Application shall comply with all requirements of applicable health and safety codes, Town Ordinances and Policies and any other applicable law.
- 14. Renters must have security as approved by TCPD for parties of 100 or more serving alcohol.
GENERAL HOURS
Recreation Center Main Hall
- Sunday – Thursday: All evening rentals must be out of the building NO LATER THAN 11:00 PM.
- Friday – Saturday: Public event: music must stop by 11:00pm, building must be vacated NO LATER THAN 12:00 MIDNIGHT; Private events: Music must be stop by 12:00 MIDNIGHT; building must be vacated NO LATER THAN 1:00am.
Neil Cummins Gym
Monday – Friday: Hours available are 6:00PM – 10:00PM. All rentals must be out of the building NO LATER THAN 10:00PM.
Saturday and Sunday: Hours available are 8:00AM – 10:00PM. All rentals must be out of the building NO LATER THAN 10:00PM.
Hours of use stated on permit must include setup and cleanup time.
SETUP TIME: The setup and decorating committee will not be admitted into the building before time stated on the
reservation contract. Users should allow ample time for setup and decorating committee to complete their tasks
CLEANUP TIME: Users should allow ample time to clean up after event. Cleanup includes: breaking down tables
and chairs and placing them to the side of the building; removing garbage from the building; and leaving kitchen
area in the same condition as before the event started. If a custodian is required to do extra cleaning, the deposit will
be retained and user will be charged extra for cleaning. This will reflect upon the possibility of future reservations
of the applicant.
Outdoor Facilities
Monday – Sunday Dusk until Dawn. No earlier than 6 a.m. no later than 9 p.m.
Picnic areas may be reserved in any 4 hours timeframe throughout the day.

reservation and should plan to be present at the end of the event. If applicant cannot be present, designate an
individual whose name should be placed on the application.
RECREATION MAIN HALL RULES
1. RESPONSIBILITY: The applicant assumes responsibility for proper use and security. At no time will the
building be left unlocked after use, nor in the charge of a minor. The building is not open to the general public
during the rental period.
2. GARBAGE: Containers are located in the kitchen area; a large dumpster is located in the service area. Do not
stack garbage outside the door – all garbage must be placed in dumpster.
3. DECORATIONS: No Staples, tacks, nails may be used. Streamers used in decorations may be taped only on
wooden surfaces and must be fore resistant.
4. WEDDING: Neither birdseed nor rice is to be thrown at weddings.
5. PARKING: Do not park in red zones. Curb in front of building is for pickup and deliveries only.
6. FIRE EXITS: Fire exists must not be blocked in any way.
7. ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES: Applicant-supplied electrical appliances must be of safe design, UL approved
and have current drawn within the amperage capacity of the wiring circuits of the premises. The Recreation
Director has authority to prohibit use of unacceptable devices. Permission to use an appliances does not
constitute certification of the safety of such appliances .
8. NUISANCE: No activity that constitutes a public or private nuisance is allowed. Noise levels shall not exceed
60 decibels from 10:00pm to 7:00am, and 70 decibels from 7:00am – 10:00pm.
9. REVOKE APPLICATION: The police Department may, at its discretion, revoke the application permit upon
breach of the peace, or under existing conditions likely to create a threat to public health or safety with no
refund of the deposit.
10. PERMITS: The Town of Corte Madera may require a use permit and the payment of a fee therefore. Applicant
shall be required to obtain all necessary permits at least fifteen (15) working days prior to date of use.
FAILURE TO OBTAIN NECESSARY PERMITS WILL VOID THE APPLICATION/CONTRACT.
11. HAT AND COAT CHECKING: Shall be the responsibility of the applicant.

21. HOURS: The building is open Mon – Fri 6pm –10pm and Sat / Sun 9am – 10pm. All activities must end and
the building empty and secure no later than 10pm.
22. ALCOHOL: There is no alcohol allowed at the Neil Cummins Gym.
23. CLEAN UP: All users must leave the gym the way they found it. Users must dry mop the floor after every use.
24. FOOD: There is no food or drink allowed in the gym at ANY time.
25. STAGE: No one is allowed on the stage at any time unless authorized and supervised by a Town Staff member.
26. CHILDREN: an adult must supervise Children at all times.
OUTDOOR FACILITIES RULES
Effective July 1, 2003: A picnic contract is required for picnic with a Jump House. Jump House allowed only
on Town Park picnic area A, G or D and San Clemente Park. A silent generator (less than 65 decibels) is
required. The number of Jump House in Town Park will be limited to two per day and one per day in San
Clemente Park. The Jump House provider must provide a Certificate of Insurance with the Town of Corte
Madera as the additional insured. Please specify that you will have a Jump House at time of reservation.
1. RESERVATION PERMIT: Permit must be at the site on the day of event. A copy of your reservation Contract
has been forwarded to the Police Department.
2. RESPONSIBILITY: Responsibility for the rental group is assumed by the applicant. Applicant whose signature
appears on the Reservation Contract should arrive at the time designated and should plan to be present at the
end of the event. If applicant cannot be present, designate and individual whose name should be placed on the
application.
3. GARBAGE: Trash containers are available at each picnic site however it is suggested that additional garbage
bags should be brought. Secure bags firmly to deter animals. Please pick up all broken glass and take excess
garbage to dumpster.
4. BARBECUES: Each picnic site has barbecues. For large groups, several picnic sited have larger size
barbecues. Please DO NOT DUMP HOT CHARCOAL FROM BARBECUES ON GROUND OR GRASS
AREAS.
5. Trees and Shrubs and Grounds: Protect the plantings. Leave tree stakes in place – do not climb trees – do not
hang ropes, volleyball nets, etc. on trees and shrubs, do not puncture or stick anything in the grounds. Broken
and damaged trees and soils cannot grow and cannot add beauty to the park.
6. MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Park only in designated areas. MOTORIZED VEHICLES ARE NOT ALLOWED
IN PARK AREAS. Police Department will issue tickets and levy severe fines to offenders.
7. ANIMALS: Pleas leave animals at home. Animals are not allowed in parks.
8. AMPLIFIED MUSIC: No activity that constitutes a public or private nuisance is allowed. Amplified music is
not allowed in outdoor areas.
9. GLASS CONTAINERS: Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages in glass containers are not allowed. Can, plastic
containers, etc. Are encouraged. Kegs are not permitted.
10. REVOKE APPLICATION: The Police Department may, at its discretion, revoke the application permit upon
breach of the peace, under existing conditions likely to create a threat to public health and safety.
11. PUBLIC DISPLAY: No advertising signs or banners shall be displayed in public parks except in accordance
with Corte Madera Sign Ordinance.
12. NO STICKING OR POKING ANYTHING ON THE GROUND! Volleyball poles, goal poles, etc.
13. NO soliciting, sales or admission fees shall be permitted in parks except in accordance with established Town
policy.
14. In consideration of residents in the area, persons using facilities shall refrain from disturbances when leaving
facilities.
15. As the park and recreation facilities are for public use, no private instruction of individuals or group will be
allowed.
